Abstract

This article is based on qualitative approaches considering the analysis and understanding of the possible impacts caused by teacher (self)training or its lack in schools offering Youth and Adult Education (EJA), Formative Time II (equivalent to the final years of Elementary Education), from the municipality of Nova Itarana, Bahia. The proposed theme seeks to present some interpretations made by EJA educators, considering the relevance of professional and continued training as a fulcrum for the teaching-learning process. Data collection took place through the use of a questionnaire applied via Google Forms to a group of educators in the modality. We referenced theorists such as Moacir Gadotti and Paulo Freire to confirm our understanding of the topic. The results highlight the lack of professional and continuing training of educators in the modality as a possible aggravating factor that can negatively affect the didactic-pedagogical process. Therefore, we believe that it is urgent to implement existing public policies and implement actions aimed at improving the quality of education for young people and adults enrolled in EJA.
