Guidelines for publication

I - On the formatting of manuscripts

1) Manuscripts should be written in Portuguese, with abstracts in Portuguese. Must be sent in electronic version, typed with 1.5 spacing, Times New Roman, size 12; obeying the margins of 3 cm and with its pages numbered. The texts should present a precise language, clear and succinct.

2) On the first page should include the title of the manuscript without the authors' names and institutions involved, but leaving space equivalent to the placement of these names after the approval of the manuscript. After approval must indicate the corresponding author and their addresses, complete postal and electronic. Must come down: abstract, keywords (minimum three and maximum of five) and short title (maximum 60 characters).

3) The abstract shall not exceed 400 words.

4) The page of theoretical papers, original research articles and reviews, including figures, tables and references, is 12, while for short communications and book reviews that limit is seven.

5) The original research articles should contain, where possible, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements and References. The other forms of publication need not present the above subdivisions.

6) The reference citations in the text should follow the following pattern: an author (Netto, 2001), two authors (Motta-Junior, Lombardi, 2002), three or more authors (Ramos et al., 2002).

7) In the case of (s) name (s) (s) of author (s) do (are) part of the sentence, the names must be written with only the initial capital and year of publication must be enclosed in parentheses. For example: "According to Assis et al. (2010), the birds migrate to warmer regions."

8) Where, in the same year, more than one article by the same author, is to add small letters after the year, as the example (Davidson et al., 2000a, 2000b). When more than one service within a parenthesis, these should be placed in chronological order. Example: (GIRARD, 1984; GROVUM, 1988, De Toni et al., 2000).

9) The reference citations at the end of the article must comply with ABNT standards, following the alphabetical order of first author's surname. Only quotes that appear in the text must be included in the reference list. Citations of abstracts of scientific congresses and meetings not to exceed 10% of all references cited.

10) Figures (photographs, drawings, etc.). And tables must already be inserted in the text, the best place after the end of the paragraph in which they were first cited. Where appropriate, figures should contain the representation of the scale bars. Where possible, illustrations should be colored. Tables and figures should be numbered with Arabic numerals according to their sequence in the text, and this should include references to all of them. Each table should have a brief title and self-explanatory. Additional information, necessary for the understanding of the table should be given in the form of a footnote beneath the table.
